Our Promise

Warranty & Authenticity

Every watch is inspected, authenticated and backed by our guarantee.

Our Authenticity Guarantee

Every watch sold by Caliber Watches is guaranteed to be authentic. If a watch we sold you is ever determined by the manufacturer or a recognized independent expert not to be genuine, we will refund the full purchase price upon its return. [CONFIRM: guarantee duration (lifetime of ownership?) and whether it is transferable.]

Authenticity means the watch was made by the brand named on the dial. For vintage pieces, it does not mean every part is original to the watch; any service replacements or non-original parts we identify are disclosed in the listing.

How We Inspect and Authenticate

Vintage watch authentication requires patience and a trained eye. Before any watch is listed, our specialists:

  • Check case and movement reference and serial numbers against known records and period-correct examples.
  • Open the caseback to confirm the movement is correct for the reference and in sound mechanical condition.
  • Examine the dial, hands, bezel, crown and crystal for originality, refinishing or replacement.
  • Assess finishing, engravings and fonts that counterfeiters rarely reproduce accurately.
  • Test timekeeping, amplitude and power reserve, and on chronographs, the start, stop and reset functions.
  • Review any accompanying box, papers and service records.

If we cannot verify a watch to our standard, we do not sell it.

Warranty Coverage

Watches purchased from Caliber Watches include our mechanical warranty for [WARRANTY LENGTH: 12 months? / consider 12 months modern, 6 months vintage?] from the date of delivery. The warranty covers defects in the movement’s function under normal use, including failure to run, significant loss of accuracy beyond tolerances appropriate to the watch’s age, and chronograph malfunction.

Where a watch is still covered by the manufacturer’s original warranty, that coverage remains with the watch and may be used in addition to ours.

Warranty Exclusions

Our warranty does not cover:

  • Water damage, including on watches described as water-resistant. Water resistance on vintage watches is never guaranteed.
  • Damage from accidents, impact, magnetism, misuse or neglect.
  • Normal wear and tear to cases, crystals, bezels, bracelets, straps and gaskets.
  • Batteries in quartz watches.
  • Watches opened, serviced, repaired or modified by anyone other than Caliber Watches or our authorized watchmakers.
  • Cosmetic aging such as patina, lume discoloration or dial changes over time.
  • Loss or theft.

Service Work Warranty

Servicing performed through our Services department is guaranteed for [SERVICE WARRANTY: 12 months?] against defects in workmanship on the work carried out, subject to the same exclusions above.

How to Make a Claim

  • Contact us at [EMAIL] or via our contact page with your order number and a description of the issue. Photos or a short video help.
  • We will review your request and send instructions for returning the watch, fully insured.
  • Our watchmakers will assess the watch. If the issue is covered, we will repair it at no cost or, if repair is not practical, offer a replacement or refund at our discretion.
  • If the issue is not covered, we will provide a written estimate before doing any work.

[CONFIRM: who pays shipping on warranty claims – e.g. Caliber Watches covers both directions within the US?]

Transferability

Our mechanical warranty applies to the original purchaser and is [TRANSFERABLE?: non-transferable?]. Please keep your order confirmation as proof of purchase.
